Describing the purpose of IT in modern business

Right now, we are currently living in the digital age of information and technology. Before we use the digital space for information, we had town criers who would ring the bell and announce the latest news to the public. Then the printing press was invented, which led the way for print publications (literature, pamphlets, newspapers and magazines). [2]

Jump a couple of years to 1920s; the radio broadcasting was another way to communicate information by ear, the television then followed communicate by sight and sound just like the movie but in your own home. Then the computer was put into the spotlight, when the Internet was invented in 1969 and in the early 1990s the World Wide Web; an information system which allows documents to be connected to other documents by hypertext links and networks. [3]

Now we are in the 21st century, the digital age is at hyper speed. Every business or personnel has website and a social networking present, Which is a mutual benefits as it allow companies to get their hands in online consumerism, which allow advertising agency to digitalise their adverts as adverts make money from promoting their products. [1]

But there are some flaws to the digital age, as we learn that websites have been harvesting your personal data to companies. Traditional media is slowly on the decline and couple of magazines have folded or stop printed publication. [4][6][7][8]
